Overview

The Risk and Compliance Officer at the organisation is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact the organization’s operations and mission. This role ensures that all activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency within the nonprofit. By safeguarding resources and promoting ethical practices, the officer plays a crucial part in enhancing the organization’s effectiveness and credibility in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential threats to organizational operations.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures in line with local and international regulations.
  • Monitor and report on compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Provide training and support to staff on compliance and risk management practices.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes that may impact the organization.
  • Prepare and present reports on risk management activities to senior management and the board.
  • Manage and investigate compliance-related inquiries and incidents.
  • Develop and maintain a risk management framework and risk appetite statement.
  • Engage with external auditors and regulatory bodies during compliance reviews and audits.
